PLANNING YOUR STRATEGY
Once you have chosen a REALTOR®, you should work with
him or her to plan out the following strategies.
- The asking price for your home.
Your REALTOR® will prepare a comparable market analysis
or price opinion for your property.
- Reviewing all financing options,
including seller financing and other acceptable terms.
- Making repairs or improvements.
These will increase the marketability of your home and its
value.
- Marketing and showing your house
to prospective buyers. When marketed, your home will
be exposed to different media including a local MLS, Internet
sites, and perhaps radio, television, and real estate guides.
- Negotiating potential purchase
contracts. Your REALTOR® will present to you
offers from potential buyers and can review with you the
pros and cons of each offer-e.g., the price, whether or
not there are any contingencies, etc.
Additionally, your REALTOR® will work with other agents
who have pre-qualified buyers, negotiate all contracts, coordinate
the work of appraisers, home inspectors, termite inspectors,
etc., and assist you through a successful closing-whether
you use an attorney or a lay settlement agent associated with
a title company.
